More Email Mayhem

Got this response today to an email I did not send:

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (FAA). I appreciate your opinions and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The FAA was signed into law in 2008 to modernize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978. The updates included in the FAA are set to expire at the end of 2012. Efforts were made to include an extension of the FAA in the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, but it was signed into law without the FAA.

The intelligence community must have clear cut rules and objectives in order to effectively do their jobs and provide for the safety of the American people. At the same time, we must ensure our liberties and constitutional rights are protected. Should legislation to extend the FAA be approved by the House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee and brought to the House floor for a vote, I will keep the changes you suggested in mind.

Thank you again sharing your concerns with me. If there is anything else I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

And, as usual, no idea what the email that I did not send actually said. Probably that anyone who is not a male WASP deserves no rights whatsoever. Something like that would be the only way to receive such a thorough response from our current legislative branch.
