Another 50th Anniversary

It’s the fiftieth anniversary of Anthony Burgess’ science fiction classic, A Clockwork Orange.

The story most of you know. What was behind the story, you may not. His wife was raped and died from her injuries at the hands of three American servicemen during WWII. Naturally, they were not held accountable for it because war is the excuse for anything anyone wants to do so long as it isn’t telling the truth.

It’s also notable in the story that Alex’s friends wind up as members of the security force. Where else can a growing boy beat, torture and get a pat on the head from the government for doing so?
