Back in December or so, I started looking into the cryptocurrency fad. Mostly, this consisted of checking out the most popular one, Bitcoin.

There were a few things immediately bothersome. For one, it suffered from the appearance of “everyone’s doing it,” including some folks who self-describe as Anons. Next, it was roundly condemned by the FBI as a method of laundering drug money, etc. Those two things together meant trouble somewhere, somehow.

Additionally, there was just something about money not even pretend-backed by gold, etc. that reminded me of mortgage-backed securities. We all recall, I’m sure, how that turned out.

Brief tangent, book plug

I have long regarded mortgage-backed securities–and some of the other items I collectively call “financial shenanigans”–a tool employed to intentionally rob the middle class. As I noted where the Bill Moyers interview linked in the previous post is concerned, it sure is starting to look like that might have been the case and included the full support of Washington, DC and the public and private intelligence community. And that is moving ever so closer to what I suggested my main role as an unwitting CIA {and possibly NSA} asset was: to be a patsy, a scapegoat, in the event that their spying on my clients and tenants was discovered. I believe that they were engaging in illegal activities such as insider trading using advanced surveillance technology and in the event that was discovered, they would go with a phony narrative painting me as a more mundane sort of spy. That would explain a great deal of why they went to so much trouble to destroy my life, my livelihood, my relationships, my future, and why they went to so much trouble to make it seem as though it was about something else, like Squidgate. They would, of course, share the financial information with select members of Congress and the Senate and individuals within the various administrations in order to avoid being investigated, discovered, etc.

End tangent, back to Bitcoin

Finally, I started asking a few questions about it on Twitter. I didn’t get any replies at all, except a new Twitter account designed to specifically address concerns actually sent a tweet to me {as I’m sure it did many people who had tweets with the word ‘bitcoin’ or the hashtag in it}. I asked that one as well and got no reply. Nor could I find the answers in the various FAQs and messageboards.

But almost daily for a while, I saw tweets saying how much it was worth and how that worth was increasing, how if you’d bought some only a few months prior you’d have done quite well today, etc.

That sewed it up for me. When a film star I follow on my non-political twitter account * asked his followers what Bitcoin was, I suggested it was a bit like Monopoly money and getting out sooner than later might be wise.

News plus this week…

Now I’m just about certain. This was either a CIA operation, an FBI operation, or a joint operation. The only question I have is, did I really figure that out as I described above, or was that just my conscious mind coming up with rationales for what my unconscious mind already somehow knew?

Don’t know. But it’s pretty funny either way.

* Yeah, I have one. Was supposed to be the “normal” account.

Government Alleges Space Alien Conspiracy in Barrett Brown Case

The government’s “case” against Barrett Brown, journalist who pointed out that the DoD report on the Collateral Murder video was misleading and created Project PM which focused on the government colluding with private enterprise to deprive citizens of their civil rights…

On that topic, see this Bill Moyers interview with a former Congressional staffer regarding Wall Street and the intelligence community conspiring to rob the Middle Class:

Bill Moyers, “The Deep State Hiding in Plain Sight,” 24 February 2014:

…took a 180 degree turn when, after having already stated that the subject of hacking group Anonymous {really a movement without leadership and we know at least partially run by FBI through informants like Sabu} was irrelevant to the case but is now crucial. Further they imply that Brown and Anonymous plotted to overthrow the government. The evidence for this that those watching the case can find in the public record? This tweet by Brown from September 2012:

Kids! Overthrow the US government lol

The link is to a music video, “The Man from Mars,” by Blondie. No word yet as to when FBI will be rounding up 80s musicians nor whether they in cooperation with the Men in Black have located the little green men who were planning to eat all of the world’s cars bars guitars. The government seems more and more unhinged every day and in this case seems to be engaging in the very kind of conspiracy theory nuttiness that Obama advisor Cass Sunstein spent so much time suggesting the government use covert action against in violation of the Constitution.

Watch the skies!

Because if you aren’t distracted by the criminals’ bulls— it’s that much harder for DC’s public-private spook junta to steal the cash out of your wallet, your bank account, your mattress and coffee urns in the back yard.

First Look at First Look

Fascinating information coming out of documents from Britain’s GCHQ confirming basically that governments are targeting anyone they don’t like with dirty tricks and are undermining the Internet itself. Some great stuff in here {but then also a lot I’ve already covered here in terms of tactics and ploys 😉 }.

BBD: Al Qaeda in NYC

As I mentioned over here in Wicked Game, some time soon after 9/11, I made a call to the terrorism hotline number. This was due to seeing a pair of odd characters posing as electricians and wandering around the Upper East Side in and around Carl Schurtz Park near Gracie Mansion, the traditional home of the Mayor of New York City.

At that point, I had about ten years experience with contractors and subcontractors from working as a real estate consultant. This work began in environmental, primarily related to abating asbestos at the so-called Exxon Building, 1251 Avenue of the Americas, or 1251 Sixth Avenue for short. I had left PSI in 1999, which had been bought by Romney’s Bain Capital a few years before that. I was still working in the same building but for a different consulting firm that worked with many tenants in that building and owners and tenants elsewhere. Nearly all of this work was related to preparing floors for tenant move-ins regardless of who our client was. We managed the design team and contractors as our primary service, typically known as “Owner’s Representative” or “Tenant Representative” depending on who our client was.

In this case, I saw two Middle Eastern men dressed similarly. One was muscular and younger than the other who was thin and “brainy” in appearance. They both had cell phones on their belts but no tools. They both wore blue t-shirts but only one had the IBEW/Local 3 (the electricians’ union) logo on it. They seemed out of place.

The younger one noticed my noticing them and spoke louder than the other who was happily describing something in another language. The younger one simply said, “Get ready, get ready,” a few times which caused his smaller companion to quiet down.

Though the dog run at the Park has changed considerably since then, the photo below was approximately my view. This was September or early October of 2001. Wearing t-shirts did not seem out of place, so it must have been a warm day. There was no snow. The fence has changed as well.

They came from the north…

…and headed south.

Unsure what to do, I called the hotline. A few minutes later a man, accompanied by a woman and a boy, walked from the same direction. He was talking into a blue-tooth ear piece, as if to convince someone of something, “It’s near Gracie Mansion. It’s near Gracie Mansion.”

The trio walked the same direction that the men had. I never heard anything more, didn’t really expect to.

A few days later, I again took the dogs to the dog run at the Park. On the way, I saw a black NYPD SUV and an ambulance parked in front of, I think this building, 120 East End Avenue. I say “I think” because I recall it being further south but the appearance of the building matches that one, so most likely I’d just forgotten precisely which cross street.

Assuming that FBI and NYPD did find an Al Qaeda cell in that apartment building or somewhere nearby, and that the presence there was follow-up investigation, there are some interesting questions this raises.

First, I think it unlikely that this was a coincidence. This occurred after my stint at the Ford Foundation backed New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, and like everything else after that and the college trip to Germany the year prior, it becomes suspect as to its “naturally occurring” state. In other words, it seems likely that  some party (CIA?) knew of the cell’s presence but for some reason did not/could not communicate that information directly to FBI/NYPD. They instead used their unwitting asset via whichever method (voice-to-skull subliminals, subliminal sound, ultrasound, acoustic psycho-correction, etc.) to ensure I was there and noticed the men. Did they make sure the men were out and about while I was there as well? Why not? How did they know there was a cell in the first place?

A few years later, there would be a similar situation except I’d be completely wrong. Was that the same people or different made that happen? Was the purpose to discredit in preparation for what was to come, or to signal to me or someone else that not all was what it seemed? The second occurrence involved a man who somewhat resembled Michael Ledeen.

I’m not quite sure. What it does indicate to me is that the US government frequently knows more than it lets on. We the civilians go on envisioning a world that is 100 years behind where it actually is technologically and buy into “mistakes” that are actually well-calculated risks designed to influence public opinion. This usually moves us in the direction of handing over money and/or power to someone who already has plenty of both. Unless you believe there’s some superior being who thinks that’s the way things ought to be, you can infer surreptitious interference in our affairs. Attempting to apply other rules and methods to the plausibly deniable is pointless…that’s why it’s plausibly deniable: it’s designed to avoid detection.

In more recent news, Giuliani’s firm moved into 1251 at some point after I left. A couple of weeks or so before I arrived, his office and some hotels near the Super Bowl apparently received envelopes with white powder in them. I am told that they tested negative for anthrax. I don’t know why they were targeted and didn’t hear about it until I got to NY. This trip had been planned for months though and kept getting delayed.

It should be noted that Giuliani did not live in Gracie Mansion (though his ex-wife may have) while he was mayor. Apparently Al Qaeda did not know that. Maybe.

Honduran Hellscape

Just returned from a NYC trip. Among the “couldn’t help but notice” events while I was there was last Thursday’s The Drug War: Policing and U.S.  Militarization at Home and Abroad. Though presented by the Center for Constitutional Rights and at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, there were about a dozen or more organizations with sponsorship that varied from antiwar, legalizing marijuana, to reforming police practices.

What was not clear from the ad I saw (I was thinking how Afghanistan’s 30-fold increase in heroin exports from 2001 to 2011 or so cost Tony Blair but still has gotten no real news coverage in the US, go figure why) was about Honduras where the abroad portion was concerned. The situation there is similar to Afghanistan and Iraq, however, in several ways.

For one, there was the slaughter of several people on a fishing boat. Among the dead, teenagers and a pregnant woman. The Honduran government declared them drug dealers and the US government has stonewalled an investigation called for by 58 members of Congress, stating that is was not US forces responsible. This is another glaring example of the passing off of responsibility through the revolving door. This was also remarkably similar to the Blackwater shooting in Bagdad and the video of US troops shooting journalists that got released by Wikileaks. There is also a video of this event, many journalists have seen it, and stated that it is clear that the boat did not fire, did not pose a threat. Contrasted with the billions of USD spent to fight the drug business and the allowance of drug boats and planes in the same and similar ports, the conclusion is obvious: we run the international drug trade.

Hondurans are being forcibly pushed out, murdered, and forced to work for the drug cartels. This goes on with the quiet approval of both Protestant and Catholic churches in the region, the governments of Honduras and the US, and for the benefit of US, Canadian, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese corporate investors. Essentially, Hondurans are being treated like Native Americans were/are in the US. Apart from the cocaine and marijuana crops, Honduras of course also has oil and natural gas. Rather than purchase it from the owners of the land, naturally the US makes deals with prominent Honduran millionaires who do things like host drug plane landing strips.

Honduras currently has one of or the highest murder rate in the world. This is what we do. You can’t even really lay claim to it being done for our benefit (you want to know how some neocons sleep at night, this is the lie they tell themselves) because you know all the resulting wealth is going upwards, being stuffed in the mattress, and not being circulated or reinvested in our economy. This is why the bailouts were actually a failure or at least only partially effective. Then you have the cheap labor battle (in which Democrats argue for an increase in minimum wage but have abandoned unions, ensuring the continuation of the trend toward wholly corporate-backed politicians because Joe Citizen cannot afford to buy him back on $10/hour). Etc.

Bill Gates recently argued that the widening gap between the rich and poor was not going to be a problem. The situation in Honduras is a prime example of why it is. Government and multinational wars waged on people for the purpose of taking their land and property, under the guise of the Wars on Terror and Drugs. It’s all a sham with the United States being the most facetious country in the world. At least Putin doesn’t pretend to not be a prick. We can call it what it is over there. The US, however, spends great resources pretending to be something other than what it is. Though as the balance of power continues to shift, even that facade is slipping and politicians, bureaucrats are more and more showing their utter disdain for those they are supposed to serve, up to and including making it known that they just might have you killed if you complain.

The other portion of the panel discussion was dedicated to police quotas resulting in over-incarceration for the benefit of the private prison industry and racist policies of the 1%. Stop and frisk sometimes boils down to NYPD asking people to empty their pockets. Not realizing the nuances here (a small amount of weed in possession has been legal since 1977), they pull it out. The loophole used is that it’s fine to keep the marijuana in your pocket, but as soon as it is in public view, it’s illegal. An incredible number of blacks and latinos are incarcerated simply due to this. Meanwhile, those who stole homes, futures, retirement funds, etc. are treated to bailouts and offers for more pillaging as well as the protection of not just police and polticians, but the intelligence community and US military as well, including the FBI which now admits that it is no longer a law enforcement agency but rather a counter-intelligence one. Strange, because as a inspector general report pointed out, FBI agents and Chinese military intelligence agents engage in sex frequently, and despite IG recommendations that that stop, it hasn’t.

But who then is the target of this counter-intelligence/counter-terrorism agency? Right. You are. If you aren’t improving Goldman-Sachs’ quarter, you are a terrorist, clearly. Not only does the utter absence of top cops mean you can steal anything, but the presence of the American Stasi means you can “fix” anyone who notices. We are moving toward a Thugocracy/Theocracy/Corporatocracy all at once.

What is also clear is that illicit drugs are already legal as far as the world elite is concerned. The fact that it is still technically illegal simply means they can charge a premium. This has long been the plus side of embargoes: you can secretly sell what the country needs at a much higher profit mark-up.

See? All that posturing and pontificating, railing against countries like Iran…it’s just about them. Their profit, their backroom/under-the-table deals. They do not give a single solitary s— about you or your family. Not enough people realize how the corruption affects them, nor how true, nor how corrupt DC really is. Those that do often misdiagnose the problem and think that reducing Uncle Sam to nothing will cure all our ills. They will, of course, hand it all over to Monsanto, Lockheed-Martin, etc. Because who’s going to tell them that they can’t run things? They practically are now. This is the gordian knot.

In Defense of Mass Delusion

Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13: 47-50

Note the fine print though. If you’re a “keeper,” you’ll be packed into a confined space like a sardine. One assumes this is in order to be consumed later. Your choice: burned alive or digested.

I’ve touched on this before, but typically in passing and not as the central point of a post. The situational value of delusion, that is. I have also touched occasionally on other bits of wisdom from holy writ, but that’s not our focus today.

As a person who generally values reason, knowledge, history, science, etc. it may seem odd that I am touting the operational value of beliving that which is not–so far as one can tell, prove, establish–true. That’s because it is situational and, really, most of us believe things that aren’t true in order to get through our day. Our car, my old example, getting us from A to B. On the day it breaks down unexpectedly, we were wrong in thinking it would do what it did several times before. And yet we don’t consider there’s anything wrong with that. It’s situational.

When confronted with a lopsided battle, and we are on the side without the odds in our favor, we face a few hard choices. We can flee, for example, determining the outcome before the battle even begins.

Or, we can choose to believe that there is something larger at work, that somehow, despite–or even due to–being the underdog, there is the possibility of victory. This is the classic David and Goliath meme.

Yet another option, and this is where early Christianity comes in, is to radically change a whole way of thinking. Roman Empire taking all your money, your rights, your property? Make it so none of those things matter any more. Put your treasure in another life, or, as some portions of these writings indicate, a sort of invisible, better, “kingdom” that exists side-by-side with the crappy one that Caesar holds sway over. As if that doesn’t make the tyrant crazy enough, prove it by forgiving his institutional thugs when they come rough you and yours up.

Dangerous ideas when the bosses depend on you being dependent on them. To move it to today’s too-big-to-failprosecute, Goldman-Sachs and the politicians who love them (read: all of ’em) want you in debt, dependent on them, buying whatever it is they market as must-have this week (further aided by NSA collating data on your inmost desires and selling/handing it over to Corporate Earth). As a counter-culture movement, it worked.

But can it today? It’s been coopted by these same forces. Rich pundits write books stating theses like Jesus opposed taxes. The US Army tried to create a “spiritual fitness” test, in order to pwn not only the soldier’s mind and body, but “soul” as well. Religion today, though this is nothing new, is a means of control of a few humans over many. To defy the will of Exxon is to spit in the eye of Yahweh himself.

To quote Twain, “If Christ were here there is one thing he would not be–a Christian.” The powers that siphon off our savings, steal our homes, use our children in wars designed to increase their already considerable wealth, would rather use this, as they do paranoia and every form of bigotry to, as Malcolm X suggested, “If you’re not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

Pink News, “US Anti-Gay Evangelist Scott Lively Warns Putin Russian Gay Propaganda Laws Are Not Enough,” 2 September 2013

Think ALEC’s Stand Your Ground laws. These and other state legislation slipped in since the 1970s, the very existence of ALEC only revealed 35 or so years later. And still, as it is with the Snowden revelations and the NSA (themselves on the tamer side of things when compared with the COINTELPRO-MKULTRA activities occurring as well) without much reaction from the American public, nor especially the religious portion of it. It is the job of the Christian–not the atheist–to point out the evil done in the name of religion, for only they have option of being taken seriously by others of similar mindsets and thereby affecting change: social justice, economic security, equal opportunities.

Who, instead do we see leading the charge where it comes to these “Christian values?” Anarchists. Occupy. And, in what must not be lost on some, what is the result of that?

WhoWhatWhy, “FBI, Snipers & Occupy,” Dave Lindorff, 27 June 2013

I’m reminded of the story from the anarchist’s mother who said her son gave away the patch quilt she made him to someone who needed a blanket. That’s right out of the part your O’Reilly’s don’t like to quote.

The entire system is arranged around supporting 1% or less at the expense of the rest. It’s upside-down. If there ever were a system needed to be turned upright, it’s ours.
