Second CIA Brainwashing Doc: Shaker Aamer {Updated}

This document, though far more recent than the one below, explains the various symptoms displayed by a detainee at Guantanamo Bay. This is a follow-up designed in part to show why the 1956 document mentioned in the post below is still relevant.

“Exhibit B – Dr. Emily A. Keram Report,” 2 February 2014:

As you’ll note, especially on page 12 and later, the treatment he received is simultaneously beneath what one should expect from the United States of America and that which rendered the man entirely useless for intelligence gathering purposes. He is, microwave weapon next door or no *, driven out of his mind. If he wasn’t a terrorist, he can easily be convinced now that he is and always was. He cannot, as detailed in the ’56 document, tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

That’s what we do: grab people at random and use them.

More disturbingly, these same symptoms are those displayed by many victims of Organized Stalking. One major difference is, as I stated in the previous post, the “cell” isn’t as physical as it it psychological. But if you can be convinced that you are trapped, you may as well be for all intents and purposes.

That’s what we do: grab people at random and use them.

We have fallen so incredibly, unthinkably low. It’s nearly impossible to comprehend the wanton cruelty displayed by the United States of America not only against those it claims {and any such claims are subject to being questioned due to the frequency with which it gets caught lying to its own people and the power and financial gain motives behind these deceptions} are guilty or suspected of terrorism but again–as it has done since WWII when it brought in Nazi scientists and spies under PAPERCLIP and BLOODSTONE–against its own citizens. In many cases, this does not even seem to be for purposes of scientific discovery. They are already aware of the effects of, for example, microwaves on human beings. Rather, this is to:

· first train those who carry out these kinds of covert operations;
· second to make certain that these people do not grow a conscience which could jeopardize the operation{s};
· third, to spread disinformation because like Shaker Aamer, the victims of OS, many of them, cannot tell what’s real, can merely guess from the altered and debilitated state that their government has put them in;
· fourth, to further undermine the trust between the government, law enforcement, etc. and the people so as to further transition the country towards complete corporate control. **

The irony of this last part and what I am doing is not lost on me. They limit your options, if only in your head. Decades of roleplaying out how to handle most any situation and having worked along side Nazis for so long has brought us to this point. There’s an army of spooks armed with methods and means that most of us haven’t even dreamed of utilizing mass “collect it all” surveillance ready to pounce on anything that even remotely looks like opposition, especially if allowed for in the Constitution.

Much like Wall Street, Washington has come to understand that it isn’t important what you actually produce. It’s only important what people think you are producing. And while the American people do smell a rat, know very well that something is wrong, they don’t realize how bad it is and that screwing them into the ground is a more likely scenario as any other. They believe another election will somehow solve these issues that have actually only worsened since 9/11, not abated.

And, diabolically, the Deep State, spearheaded by the CIA, NSA, DHS,  and FBI, eventually wants you to know so you’ll struggle like the guy who won’t follow police instructions to lie still because he’s getting the s— beat out of him with billy clubs, getting zapped with tasers, shot in the eyes with pepperspray or the torso with rubber bullets, getting chewed up by K9 officers, or having a heart attack, suffering from mental illness, or “guilty” of being mentally challenged.

There is no mercy, no compassion, no decency to be found in our government at all in effect, nor the rest of the Deep State whom it serves.

Those days are over. It’s back to the Dark Ages because, you know, we never really learn.

Can you describe what it’s been like inside the embassy? Can you describe the scene?

[translated] Yes. What has occurred here is truly rude treatment for a democratically elected president. This is not how you treat a president who is fighting to reinstall democracy in his country.

We have been repressed and limited to the embassy. Tear gas has been fired. Our electronic lines, our telephone lines have been cut. We’ve also been under attack from microwaves and the sound cannon, a long-range acoustic device.

What do you mean, acoustic device, a sound cannon?

[translated] There are two kinds of unconventional weapons that have been used against us by the regime. There’s a high-frequency pitch that has been used against protesters. And another weapon that has been used against us is an electronic device that issues microwaves, which is very harmful for your health. It causes headaches.

As president, do you know about this in the Honduran arsenal?

[translated] Yes, of course. We all suffered this. We all witnessed it. There’s photographs and videos of this occurring.

And who is using this outside — the tear gas, the sound cannon, whatever you call it, the high-frequency machine? Is it Honduran soldiers?

[translated] There are military forces that have surrounded the embassy. The embassy, in fact, has been turned into a concentration camp.

Democracy Now!, “Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya Speaks from the Brazilian Embassy in Tegucigalpa,” Amy Goodman, 5 October 2009:

** Deny it:
Citizens United.
Top Secret America.
Domestic drone rollout.
Solitary confinement.
Mass surveillance.
Spying on everyone, running ops on everyone.
Assassinations of at least one American citizen.
Congress ignoring the will of the people in favor of lobbyists time and again. See post below about Princeton study and oligarchy having replaced democracy.
False-flag terror attacks and puppet groups both domestically and overseas {Syria, Ukraine}.

Name one thing that opposes. I’m told that the 2nd Circuit Court has denied that the provisions in the NDAA for indefinite detainment of American civilians is in any way legal, that the powers it lays claim to do not exist. Guess that’s something for as long as it lasts.

CIA Brainwashing Document

Added a link under History at right to the PDF of CIA’s {old dead link} {new link}1956 psychological view of Communist brainwashing. It’s in must-read territory for a whole bunch of reasons.

First and foremost, CIA called it what it is: torture. This is the document that John Marks, who gathered many MKULTRA documents via FOIA and subsequently wrote The Search for the Manchurian Candidate referred to when he said several CIA men got angry when the doc was done. They had hoped to convince gatekeepers that there was some “ancient Chinese secret” to it all. One imagines this was so they could milk the federal cash cow, just as so many NSA contractors do today, based on manufactured boogeymen. Sort of like The Men Who Stare at Goats ESP nonsense.

You’ll also find that I previously blogged about the bizarre similarity between what Chelsea Manning’s attorney said happened at Quantico prison and the treatment she received there. Brainwashing, no doubt about it. But why? The original purpose: false confessions, convincing the subject to state something as true that they know not to be.

Beyond that, the United States government has almost perfectly replicated this regimen without actually needing to have the target in a cell. It requires, I’m sure, more than a few field operatives working together in order to create what are very similar circumstances. You appear to be “free” but they’ve destroyed your career, relationships, your ability to think clearly, and you’ve no choice, your mind tells you, but to wait out the pain and suffering in the tiny apartment you worry periodically if you’ll be able to continue to afford, or will they take the wrecking ball to this new lonely life as well?

The difference of course, is it isn’t a false confession they were looking for from me. No. It was ultimately violence.

Which is how I know that the Boston Marathon bombing was arranged the same way. 9/11. Arizona movie house shooting. Navy Yard Shooting. The list goes on.

There is no bottom to the lows that the Deep State, and by extension our politicians and bureaucrats, will go to to make a buck. Destroying the Middle Class, as was warned in the 2001 National Intelligence Estimate as being the biggest threat to security for the foreseeable future, is coming to pass. And they clearly don’t care. They’ve adjusted to serving Oligarchs instead of the American people. In essence, there has been a silent coup d’etat. Already happened.

Anyway, from the psychological and emotional perspective, much of what happened to me, happens to others who are victims of the new COINTELPRO, of organized stalking, is in there. The use of surprise, sleep deprivation, confusion, disorientation, good cop/bad cop, presumption of guilt with sentence to be carried out surreptitiously, it’s all there.

Was this also added as part of NATSEC repertoire, as reverse-engineering the SERE program was? Again, pre-9/11, 1989-1990, saw some of it being done to others.

What’s still missing: why Obama doesn’t care he will go down in history as the most reviled President. This began under Bush (when whatsyourname stole my garbage, right?), but he inherited it and it’s blossoming under the direction of people who work for him.

Hanging Together Part 2

The screening was followed by a panel moderated by Barton Gellman, the well known NATSEC reporter for WaPo. By the way, spoke to him after to make sure he knew COINTELPRO is continuing. He said he knew there were many stories still untold.

The first question was a two-parter. The lady asking it didn’t speak loud enough I think to get the second part heard but she was standing behind me, a few rows back, so I heard it. She asked Mr. Drake if he thought CIA suicides were actual suicides. This may have been in part due to John Kiriakou stating that early on he thought about throwing himself in front of a subway train.

Let me again take a stab at answering that. Perhaps it is best in a way that it gets answered here.

No, probably not an actual suicide in the sense that we are used to thinking about it. If you’ve read this blog or the draft of Wicked Game, then you know my thoughts on it. The existence of voice-to-skull, its ability to be used subliminally, that CIA most likely had ahold of the Russian’s similar acoustic psycho-correction by 1983 or so, that the subproject to MKULTRA, #119, was dedicated to this and there is almost no documentation and no testimony on it, is in part why I say: no. Also, it’s been reported that CIA has the highest suicide rate in the US government. They have tried to explain this by saying these were disenfranchised romantics. I don’t care if you’re a cynic. Obviously there are compartments that will make you wonder WTF it is we’re actually trying to accomplish. Helping people is 90%+ propaganda. Obviously.

Also there are drugs that can cause depression–on top of the social pressures brought to bear on a whistleblower–coupled with drugs that affect judgment that could also be used.

Then there’s just the pressure brought to bear: financial, professional, personal, emotional and mental.

At the very best, we’re talking surreptitious assisted suicide. I’m more inclined to call it assassination, regardless how many Langley weasel lawyers classify it otherwise.

But then I have the advantage of knowing. I can’t prove it beyond circumstantial evidence, but there is a lot of that.

You can decide. Am I, as CourtTV states Kazcynski was, schizophrenic? Or, does the circumstantial evidence coupled with other, already exposed, governmental wrongdoing persuade?

In any case, people should be aware of the possibility that thoughts and feelings may not be their own, that this is technologically possible, and that there is no shortage of people perverse enough to carry it out. Just like Sidney Gottlieb, Dr. Luther Wilson Greene {especially men like Greene} and George Hunter White. Just like J. Edgar Hoover’s COINTELPRO thugs. Just like the East German Stasi and the similarly dreaded Nazi German SS.

“It doesn’t appear to be happening to me, therefore it can’t be happening at all,” is not a logical argument. It is an illogical denial strategy. And I cannot blame others for wanting to deny it. It’s frightening, disturbing, and the mainstream media and government say it isn’t happening, so it must not be, right?

Some of the things I’ve mentioned are things Thomas Drake mentioned. The East German Stasi, for example. His previous job at NSA was listening to them. Their motto he said: “Collect it all.” Not quite as ambitious as:

…but then their Wall fell so maybe they weren’t ambitious enough.

Maybe our wall fell too, and we’re too damned arrogant and self-dealing to admit it.

My panel question, in the middle of which despite having rehearsed it a few times in my head brought on deer-in-the-headlights freeze for a few seconds in the middle was, “The average American, probably not strong on the Civics…says to himself, ‘What do I care if NSA watches me play Farmville on Facebook?'”

I expected to hear Franklin on safety and freedom quoted, but was glad I didn’t because I think we hear it all the time and it’s not getting through. Drake’s reply was better, more poignant:

“First of all, that quote, ‘If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve nothing to fear,’ is often attributed to Joseph Goebbels.”

I confess to clinging to that, rolling that around in my head so strongly that I didn’t retain what followed even though I heard it. However, that answer not being the one I expected, spoke further. It’s not just that we’ve forgotten who we were, the importance of what the Founders said…it’s that we’ve also taken on a different persona, one that does not value truth and justice but rather lies and injustice. Cruelty replaced kindness. Love of money replaced love for each other. Power replaced humility.

Another question, posed to director James Spione, was whether or not there had been any attempt to include the government’s point of view. He said no, he made that decision early on, that you could turn on your tv any day of the week to get that.

That was when I started the applause that drowned out some of what else he said.

This eventually adjourned outside on the sidewalk. I have no idea how late Thomas and Kevin were for the after premiere party, but Mr. Drake was very gracious to stick around and answer questions of several audience members for quite some time.

There was a great deal I learned as well as discovering a great deal in common. The Nuremberg trials came up, for example. As for learning new stuff, in his view, Brennan is Obama’s “Cheney.” Power is addictive, he said, and Obama appears to have succumbed to it.

In a very similar way, he mentioned that studies of interrogators found that they had to be switched out frequently. Similar to how undercover cops can internalize too much of their cover and sort of forget who they are, interrogators can easily become addicted to sadism, cruelty, even torture. It does something to their heads and they want more and more. It’s a kind of power.

This was a missing puzzle piece for me. I knew that the people who are carrying out COINTELPRO 2.0, NKINTRA, organized stalking, whatever term you prefer, were sadistic. I’ve often referred to them as psychopathic in fact. What I had assumed was that they had been chosen because of that…not that the job itself had changed them.

Which I guess brings me to my final point.

(Please, ‘J.’

Before it’s too late. You know who I am. We both know it wasn’t the dog, anyway. As a long lost friend used to quote: “There are no accidents.” At least not for people like us. You must know that. And it’s sometimes a comforting thought.

The first thing I learned from Scahill about dealings with the Dark at St. Ann’s Warehouse: exposure is protection. The more public you are, the more difficult it becomes to silence you.

Besides, why would someone whose forbear either had a career as a paid audience shill, as a spreader of V.D., more possibly both, do this?

FAS secrecy blog, “[Clapper] Bars Unauthorized Contacts with News Media,” Steven Aftergood, 21 April 2014:

It is sufficient to be “any person… engaged in the collection, production, or dissemination to the public of information in any form related to topics of national security….”

After trying to say so many legitimate people aren’t reporters, now they want to make even bloggers like me “news media” as well. Why?

Because they know. We can stop this. But I can’t do it without you.)

Upcoming event in Boston I wish I could attend:

Hanging Together Part 1

Soooo many things to cover. This is going to be long, I think. Will try to organize into subsections.

Other bits will have to wait. For example occurred to me recently that they may not in fact have murdered my grandmother but rather employed some sleight-of-hand to make it seem that they did. Which would mean that they still did make my dog deathly ill. Perhaps they did that after discovering my grandmother’s illness but before her death in order to make it seem like the timing was reversed. Combine this principle of stage magic and card magic tricks with the terrorist organization’s penchant for taking credit for things they didn’t do. Well, terrorists or psychos. Like Charles Manson taking credit for making the DA’s watch stop during his trial. This is the psychology of the psychopathic Deep State. See also again GCHQ/JTRIG’s Gambits for Deception up top about playing with perceived order of events. Apparently standard scumbaggery in any dialect of Merkan.

Ok, guess that didn’t have to wait after all. Neither does why they would do such a thing. I’ve had to update an old 2011 post here:

Note that, yes, I contact reporters all the time and though I don’t deny having had from time to time issues between the ears, it is the cause of that that I dispute. Recall again items 1 and 5 of the draft ’55 MKULTRA memo. Old tactic, one G. Gordon Liddy talked about having discussed and planned using on investigative reporter Jack Anderson and a member of Congress during his CREEP years for Nixon. Pervert and fake psychology like they do news and starts of wars and they lay the groundwork for the narrative that begins, “He was a quiet man…”

In point of fact I am not a quiet man. Just look at this blog.

Or ask folks outside the movie Saturday evening. More on that later.

But this is about my trip to NYC. Just got back. Was there on a one-week temp job. Contract was only signed a week ago Thursday.

Which is so funny because the job turned out to be the same week as the Tribeca Film Festival. I discovered this from the Twitter and that a pair of films that would interest me were playing there.

The first, I didn’t get to see. It was 1971, based on the break-in in a Pennsylvania FBI office that lead to exposing COINTELPRO. We are fond of laying all that on Hoover, but let’s recall that agents took part and none blew the whistle. It took a crime to expose just one illegal program. We still don’t know how many similar ones there may have been nor do most of us know it continues today or is back, depending on which narrative you buy into.

You can read about a new book on the subject here:

FDL, “FDL Book Salon Welcomes Betty Medsger, The Burglary: The Discovery of J. Edgar Hoover’s Secret FBI,” Kevin Gosztola, 29 March 2014:

One of the film’s producers is Laura Poitras, a multi-award-winning journalist, WaPo and Guardian, worked with Glenn Greenwald, Jacob Appelbaum, and others, and has written about the NSA and other intrusive Orwellian offenses. Laura joined First Look Media and now works along side Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, and others.

It was my plan to make that film but I got caught up in several other things at once including options on a Good Friday worship and possible sexual encounter. To be clear, these were not in fact the one-in-the-same offer.

Deciding neither inducement of oxytocinal bliss would be the best use of my time {there it is: turning down sex and Jesus; must be insane}, I attempted to see if I could make it in time to the after-screening Q&A. I didn’t, but I did ambush Kevin Gosztola as he exited the theater. A big surprise, he had two whistleblowers in tow: former DoJ consultant Jesselyn Radack and former senior NSA officer Thomas Drake.

It turned out these two were 2/3s subject of the other film, Silenced. The remaining 3rd is John Kiriakou, who is in prison. He’s the only person in prison with connection to the CIA’s torture program and he didn’t torture.

Speaking of torture, forget what I wrote about ending in 2006 below. Forget 2009, too. Significant portions of the so-called Enhanced Interrogation Techniques program are still in place. Jeff Kaye has more, including my senior Senator being just fine-and-dandy with it:

FDL, “DoD Directive Used Duplicity to Hide Current Use of SERE Torture Techniques in Interrogations,” Jeffrey Kaye, 20 April 2014:

To the uninitiated, this means that the reverse-engineering of SERE, a program designed to help American soldiers and spies resist the evil acts of North Korea, Cuba, etc., should they be captured, was turned on its head into a North Korea style torture program. Jeff Kaye is reporting on how DoD used weasel-words to finesse this continuance.

There’s also more elsewhere from former UK diplomat Craig Murray and the British media’s resistance to reporting on the horrors he witnessed at Black Sites, but back to Silenced.

Silenced you can read more about here:

See it if you can! I wound up seeing the world premiere on Saturday.

In summary:

Jesselyn dealt with a coverup at the Dept. of Justice over the illegally acquired confession of “American Taliban” John Walker Lindh. Ashcroft knew it was illegal and looked the media in the eye and lied about it. So much for the morality of someone in the we-know-where-he-was-Friday-night/Sunday-morning category. Think it says, “He who knoweth right and doeth wrong…” And he clearly kneweth.

Then Thomas Drake. He found that a legal and less expensive software program {THINTHREAD} had been passed over for a more expensive one {TRAILBLAZER} that did not have the FISA rules built into it. Naturally, attempting to save taxpayer money and avoid unlawful acts results in being attacked.

Then Kiriakou, who talked publicly about the CIA torture program after it had already been in the news. He admitted to also making a slip also when asked about a colleague. He’s in prison for this unintentional, technicality while Cheney and Scooter Libby are not for their intentional one. Cue Nixon, “It’s not illegal when…”

In all three cases, there were personal costs attached that are all too familiar. Though in my case it was accomplished almost purely through  black ops–psychology, pharmacology, and other science instead of legal tricks–the result was the same: financial ruin, loss of personal relationships, isolation, insult, intimidation, stigma, and loss of career.

It was painful to watch these people suffer but we need to see what is being done in our name, We the People. It was in some ways reruns and in others realizing that I’m not alone and remembering that it is a corrupt system that we stuggle against.

For anyone new to the blog, simply put: legal system directly aimed at me as related to what it is really related to–an illegal government program–would confirm the existence of the program. These methods, techniques, etc. that I witnessed in action in 1988-1990 and after are being used today on American citizens, on American soil. This for domestic political reasons and personal gain motives. It is merely under the guise of, or in tandem with, actual, legitimate, reasonable reasons related to national security. It is important that they be revealed. Our government is once again dissembling, taking advantage of the public trust, using fear of “others” and terrorism to rob us for the benefit of some special business interests. That’s it. They spin and accuse anyone who points this out of aiding the enemy.

Shorter version: witnessed covert “fix-it” training ops and now that they’re operational and making a play for total control, they don’t much want me around spoiling their “fun.” What I witnessed includes seeing means and methods in action, more often the results of same, that can be used to destroy whistleblowers and others.

Don’t want to give too much away about the film but there were several familiar statements that stuck out. Kiriakou says, “They told the interrogators what they thought they wanted to hear to make the torture stop.” Drake said that much of the government’s efforts against whistleblowers is to destroy them. Jesselyn found herself in a Twilight Zone type nightmare when she found that the Lindh file had been purged of everything but two innocuous emails after having been an inch thick. She likewise found emails missing and managed to recover only 15 of perhaps hundreds.

The most troubling part is how so little comes from these revelations. Mainstream media and indy pundits tow the government’s line as if they are all MOCKINGBIRDs. Congress acts as if it’s all normal and tends to legalize whatever wrongdoing is discovered unless it is safe to do otherwise in which case they pretend to scold. Recent example, the torture report again. Pre-Boston Marathon bombing reporting mentions senior Bush officials approving this program. The summary “leaked” to McClatchy now says CIA misled everyone. They may have, but the long delay in release implies edits for political expediency.

Drake also noted that 9/11, his first day of work on his new NSA job, was referred to as a gift by his supervisor. NSA would get all the money it sought and more due to having failed.

The main point of the film, though: here are people holding their own government accountable to the law, protecting freedoms of their fellow citizens, and upholding their oaths to protect the Constitution, and there’s a huge machine that knows without saying it that there is no intent from top to bottom to do the same. And that machine, that Deep State, ate them alive.

And yet there’s hope in the form of a surprise towards the end of the film. Not telling.

BBD – The DNA Gambit

Just reading through some of Barrett Brown’s old blog posts. Seems there’s always more writing by the man than I thought. Anyway, got curious about the “OWS murder link.” Brown mentions it in relation to Gawker‘s Adrian Chen, who jumped on the story. I vaguely recall it being brought up on Twitter, the short but smug rejoicing of the Wall Street pep squad and pundits that they could at last pin a crime on people who protest organizations that commit crimes as part of their business model–and do so on a frequent basis. Then, the return of sadness when it turned out that the whole story was bulls—. What I did not know or recall was why it was shown to be in error: an apparent DNA test lab error:

It’s not quite Dewey Defeats Truman, but The New York Post may come to regret its “OWS Murder Link” headline now that The New York Times is reporting that a DNA match supposedly linking a 2004 killing to a March protest was the result of a laboratory error. The Post is already citing a source calling it “a total screw-up.”

This, of course, reminded me of one day in the Summer of ’11… It was a bright, beautiful day in Minneapolis. At least it seemed so to a person who’s brain had been baked by microwaves and whathaveyou by the Federal government {again, see the post two down}.

I sent this email, BCCed a few folks in case I wound up in the slammer for Jimmy Hoffa, Franz Ferdinand, or the rape of Lucrece:

Just for documentation purposes…

A few days ago I had a large (4″ x 6″ or so) minor in terms of depth blister on my right calf on the right side. I was sitting outside when I noticed it… Not particularly painful. I peeled it off and threw it away (off the curb).

Later the discarded skin was gone.

Look [for] my DNA at a crime scene!

Or perhaps not now that I’ve documented it. Tricky bastards.

Sent via mobile

A typo corrected in there. Let me add some missing details and point some things up. This is 2011, a year before the OWS headline.

The blister was an almost perfect oval. It didn’t hurt, was a very shallow blister. Guessing some sort of spray could have been responsible. Suppose could be electronic “skin burn” gun. Weird in any case. At first assumed a very bizarre sunburn limited to a small area of one leg.

Not in my life.

After discarding it, I went inside for a drink. Maximum elapsed time down stairs to apartment #1 and back up with drink was likely less than 10 minutes, could have been less than 5.

Suddenly occurred to me that substantial, fleshy chunks of a Federal target floating around out there {I once had had similar concern when a one-night stand took a condom with him when he left} might not be a good idea. I went to check.

And it was gone. We’re talking about very near the curb, between two parked cars. Unlikely it blew away. Possible taken by rat, cockroach, FBI counter-intelligence. You know, some kind of vermin.

Anywho, this is the kind of thing I mean about covert ops against protestors, witnesses, whistleblowers, etc. If it hasn’t already been done–that is framing someone by planting their DNA at a crime scene or making clandestine switcheroos in the lab–it will be.

PS: always possibility of planting cigarette butts or similar at crime scenes as well. Noticed some of those disappear from parents’ yard in late 2011/ early 2012, think it was.

Tortured Reports

There are some problems with the apparent leak of the Senate torture report findings summary. I’m going to point those out and then flip the whole thing on its head to what I really want to discuss, mostly the bigger domestic picture as it relates to intelligence community abuse of power in general.

Watch, it’ll be fun.

First we have a recent Guardian article about when the CIA torture program ended:

More suspected terrorists underwent the agency’s post-9/11 treatment, which largely lasted from 2002 to 2006, than the CIA has publicly admitted, according to the report’s findings, which were first reported by McClatchy.

But McClatchy doesn’t modify with largely or similar:

The findings are among the report’s 20 main conclusions. Taken together, they paint a picture of an intelligence agency that seemed intent on evading or misleading nearly all of its oversight mechanisms throughout the program, which was launched under the Bush administration after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and ran until 2006.

So…definitely 2006, then. Let’s make sure by checking out what the alleged leaked Senate report findings say:

The CIA’s Rendition and Interrogation program ended by 2006 due to legal and oversight concerns, unauthorized press disclosures and reduction in cooperation from other nations.

Yep. “Heck, it might have been sooner. ‘…by 2006,’ we said. We Senators just can’t be sure what with being beside ourselves with all those legal and oversight concerns. Hand wringing is so distracting.”

Ok, ok, Senator, calm down. Pardon me while I just fact-check you with prior statements made on the subject:

Reminding citizens that interrogation techniques became ‘enhanced’ after 911, Leon Panetta stated that those practices being questioned ended in January [2009].

Some timeline issues there from someone. Watch for Panetta or another senior official to be trotted out and twist the English language into pretzels explaining what was meant by whom.

Now let’s see what else the findings say.

Oh. Just did it all on their own. Defied the White House. Misinformed them. And DoJ. And Congress. And the press.

Who the f— does CIA work for again?

It’s not acceptable to come along eight or five years later and say, “We didn’t know.” It’s your f—ing job to know, oversight…White House.

This is one of the problems. They just don’t want to officially know. They pretend it’s in everyone’s best interests that we break the rules and so they make sure that they are intentionally farasyoucantell ignorant of the truth in order to protect themselves if something goes wrong.

The fact that they continue to defend overly intrusive NSA practices, and can’t exactly deny they exist since we’ve seen many in print thanks to Snowden, says that they really aren’t all that into “legal.” It’s about protecting the Deep State and the cash cows the monstrosity manages to crap out periodically that benefit the few right people at the expense of all the rest/wrong ones.

This is why I say what I say in the “Activist’s Primer to Counter-Intelligence.” *

And going back to what was said above about end dates for programs, I’ve pointed out proof that MKULTRA did not end in the 60s as we were told. Might have been renamed, what difference does that make? It’s misleading and intentionally so in order to make the American people think it was some fluke, a mistake. “Oh, those silly kids with their drug and radiation experiments. Just trying to protect. They overdid it! Aw, aren’t they cute and patriotic? And they stopped and started behaving before…uh…before I was elected…yeah.”

The point seems to be that without a Snowden and a Greenwald or a Hammond and then a Brown to sift the stuff to make some sense of it, we just don’t find out the truth. At all. This was one of Barrett’s points in the blog post, “Not All Propaganda is Equal.” [5]

If the CIA and NSA {and I haven’t even begun to parse some of FBI’s latest such as working with JSOC overseas} are willing to abuse their powers, and then lie about it or get most of our government to lie for them, how much more so a private contractor who is–at least!–an additional layer removed from oversight? Who might be on the one hand privy to the nation’s biggest secrets and working for large law firms to secretly attack and neutralize peaceful, legal, democratic processes?

There is no freedom here if even the least among us are denied it.

* There’s a link up top if you haven’t checked it out yet, and I’ve added a few comments in there recently, such as Shaffer’s comment about technology being far ahead of where the American public thinks it is, and that we don’t know how it’s being used. This was in the context of Romas/COIN, but he is clearly making a more general statement.

On that note, I also updated the post below regarding what I like to call the FBI/CIA/DoD Cookbook, “How to Bake an Undesirable’s Brain Using 40+ Year Old Technology.”
